Daily Mushroom Harvest From a Small Scale Mushroom Farm
We are harvesting fresh oyster mushrooms daily from our small scale mushroom farm in New Zealand. In this video we take you through how we harvest, package, and store our fresh mushrooms prior to sale to restaurants. We Harvest upwards of about 100kg per week in winter, and will be increasing that amount as summer rolls around. Our main species are Italian oyster mushrooms, with some shiitake as well.
We get our boxes specially made for us, and are harvested directly into them.

What Is The Best Fan For Mushroom Growing?
Переглядів 11 тис.11 місяців тому
When growing or farming mushrooms, you need a fan to take all the co2 and spore filled air out and away from the fruiting room. You need a suitable fan to do this, and in this video we look at the two types of fan I use on my farm. The main fans I use are centrifugal fans, which I use as main exhaust fans. These are an EC controlled fan, meaning they can be controlled with a 0-10v signal input....

I Am (almost) Growing Mushrooms In Antarctica | Heating a Mushroom Farm

It's been a cold October, as a cold wind blew directly off antarctica, across the southern and pacific oceans, and right over my farm in New Zealand. With the brief period of snow we had, I thought I should cover off exactly what I use to heat my farm! We use 4 separate heat pumps, and 8kw, 3.2kw, 5kw, and a commercial 11kw. These all control different parts of my mushroom farm, with the 11kw h...
DISASTER at my Mushroom Farm

Yesterday on my Mushroom farm I had disaster strike.. The ribbon blender or mixer which I imported from China to mix my mushroom substrate, started to show signs it was breaking. Unfortunately, I believe it was sent to me without any oil in the drive reduction gearbox. So...

The one on the right is a spinning disc humidifier. They often get their feed by having a conical underside to the bottom of the disc and the tip of this sits in the water. When the disk is spinning water gets lifted up the cone and thrown out at the periphery of the disc. The problem with this type is that, unless you have a very high rotation speed, the droplets thrown off are not very small - it's difficult to get much output down at 5 microns by this technique. Breaking water into very fine droplets is a high energy job because of the surface tension and the large area you are creating by making the small droplets. This is the kind of fairly useless stuff you learn by doing a PhD in cloud microphysics 😃

  • @ZebrAsperger

i'm very late to the party, but i may have an answer to your final question : Variability in yields. - I used tyndallization like you do in this video until recently, and also had variability in yields. - I bought a real autoclave recently and the variability disappeared. So i went back to tyndallize a few bags until i got one with lower yields to send to the lab, in which they found 2 strains of bacterias, dead. I think the bags aren't always sterilized with this method so the mycelium has to fight foreign bodies, even if it wins, the bacterias or whatever has already "eaten" some ressources and weakened the mycelium (since he has to use ressources to produce antibiotics). The lab showed me the slices they did, and there were obvious zones with no mycelium and different color (where they found the bacterias), you may want to carefully slice your substrates that gave less yields to visually check this.

I will soon do some testing but I guess if you want to increase succes rates grow these truffles I guess you need to isolate the culture, grow it in a completely sealed and sterilized growbag and then use this material to inauculate the trees.

I've watched your one of your videos with the ribbon mixer and I'm 100% sold on this style of concrete mixer, it looks very practical. I think unless scaling up massively just get a second and run them in tandem, mixing one while working with the other substrate, the labour is fine. and if anyone has played No Mans Sky that is exactly what I picture in my head lol

Would this work for a diy steam room? And is there an attachment that fills the tank when it’s too empty? It would be great if, like a toilet, it had a device that caused water to fill it when it was too low…

Mushrooms did wonders in my life. I suffered severe anxiety and mental disorder years ago as a teenage. Got diagnosed with OCD. Spent my whole life fighting OCD. Not until my mom recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

I was horrifically depressed since childhood. It was relentless. I assumed it would ultimately end me somehow. About twelve years ago I randomly accepted the offer from a friend of a few doses of mushrooms. I did them two consecutive nights alone. First night was pretty mild. The second night? Wow. I saw my depression from every angle, realized much. Next day: depression totally gone. Never came back, never coming back. It's like it's a forest far away I can remember, and could probably find again with enough effort, but it has zero impact on anything in my life or mind. They honestly saved my life and improved it immensely. I never did them again, either. I wish there was a good, organized way to administer them to people who would benefit from them.

I just grew my first batch last week, ate several grams in total here and there. Went great! Had euphoria, nice visuals. I must have gotten cocky or taken it for granted because a day ago I decided to eat 7 grams. I got zero visuals, its like the mushroom decided not to entertain me and wanted to hammer me. I laid in my bed and was fighting it, it was telling me I'm a bad person and that everyone hates me. That I should self delete. I gave in to it and it still was hammering me, being mean as hell. I have no suicidal thoughts when sober, i want to stick around, grow old, and be here for my 3 little girls so it felt like it was the mushroom telling me those things or something. I now fear and respect the mushroom.

It breaks dna, much more hazardous to bacteria/fungi than humans which is why it is such an effective steriliser...but still not something you want to be in contact with, especially your eyes. I would just put a switch on outside of room or container, make sure its off before handling or exposing the bulb

    • @BlueFox61
      @BlueFox61 Місяць тому

Just make your own lid? Sheet of plywood, 17.5" diameter circle. Saw or jigsaw or hacksaw if you trust yourself Then add a raised edge with a strip of metal or what I would do is just drill 4-8 3"x2" strips so you can crimp the lid shut and use bungees for extra protection.
